Mitered Square Crochet JAYG Pattern

We are excited to share our newest pattern with you!!!

Whether it’s a vibrant skein that reminds us of a beloved sweater or a few leftover yards from a baby blanket, these remnants hold memories and potential. Instead of letting them gather dust, why not turn them into something new and delightful? You could create a colorful patchwork blanket and each piece you create will carry the story of your knitting journey. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to practice sustainability and make the most of every fiber.

Now we can use them to create a memory blanket! Whether you want to work in rows or more in a corner-to-corner style, this pattern has you covered! This crochet pattern is completely customizable based on your choice of yarn and hook size! The possibilities are endless! You can use fingering weight, DK, or even bulky weight yarn. Want to make a blanket? Go for it! Or maybe you want to create a table runner? That works too!

Crochet Techniques Used in the Pattern:

  • Half Double Crochet (HDC): The half double crochet stitch is a versatile technique that falls between the single crochet and double crochet stitches in height and complexity. To create an HDC, start by yarn over, insert your hook into the desired stitch, and pull up a loop. You should now have three loops on your hook. Yarn over again, and pull through all three loops to finish the stitch. This stitch adds both texture and strength to your project.
  • HDC3tog: This technique is essential for creating decreases in your crochet work. To properly execute the HDC3tog, begin by yarning over. Insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop, leaving you with three loops on your hook. Repeat this for the next two stitches so that you now have a total of seven loops on your hook. Ensure that you are maintaining an even tension throughout this process. After inserting into all three stitches, yarn over once more and pull through all seven loops in one smooth motion to complete the decrease.
